The principle of the counterbalanced stacker relies on a counterweight and free-hanging forks, eliminating the need for support arms. This design allows the automated guided vehicle to handle open EU pallets, closed double-deck pallets, and access stations where support arms would not fit.
Automatic guided vehicles from Toyota support two highly accurate and adaptive navigation technologies: reflector or natural navigation, or combined as dual navigation. The latter allows the automated forklift trucks to switch between using reflectors for one area and using the warehouse environment as reference for another area of the layout.
All automated stackers are controlled by T-ONE automation software, designed in-house by Toyota. This software works as standalone or as a communication layer with warehouse management and production systems. T-ONE keeps track of goods storage, orders, traffic and flow thanks to its intelligent fleet control and the integration with ERP/WMS.
Toyota's automated forklifts are programmed to complete all tasks safely and to work alongside manual operators. The built-in safety scanners and obstacle detection units prevent collisions by reacting accordingly to obstacles crossing the trucks’ path. The 360° personal protection system with sensors, scanners and software monitors to further ensure accurate and safe load handling.
The Toyota SAI125CB stackers are equipped with Lithium-ion batteries that are up to 30% more energy efficient whilst reducing CO2 emissions. With the ability of auto-charging, the AGV trucks can charge quickly in between tasks, without the need of personnel or charging rooms, making it fully automated.
How can this automated guided vehicle help you improve your operation?
AGV stands for Automated Guided Vehicle. An AGV is an automated forklift used in warehouses, factories and distribution centres to move goods automatically. Instead of being driven by an operator, an AGV follows a planned route and is controlled by intelligent software, like T-ONE, the software developed by Toyota Material Handling. This allows it to transport and store pallets safely, consistently and efficiently. Toyota’s AGVs are designed to work alongside people and manual forklifts, helping reduce repetitive tasks, improve accuracy and keep material flowing smoothly. They are commonly used to support processes such as pallet transport, storage and production supply, making operations more reliable and easier to manage.
We have different choices of charging, with lead-acid batteries you can charge manually by connecting a cable or exchanging the battery. With Li-ion you can charge manually by using a cable or automatically via a charging station. More than 95% of our customer prefer a fully automated solution. The automated solution could be set to opportunity charging (independently charges whenever there’s no order) or scheduled charging. In any of the automated charging solutions there is an automatic fallback charging when battery approaches low level.

Our automated guided vehicles support two navigation techniques:
Natural navigation
This navigation method utilises recognisable reference points or landmarks within the warehouse, such as walls, racking and fixed objects, to calculate the truck’s location. It is a lower-cost alternative for warehouses where the surroundings remain fairly constant.
Reflector navigation
Reflectors are installed in the warehouse allowing the scanner on the automated truck to define its position based on its distance to the reflectors, delivering robustness, high accuracy and long reach in most environments.

AGVs are very safe, safer than manually driven vehicles, they are designed according to ISO 3691-4 standard. Various scanners and sensors ensure safe and accurate navigation, detecting obstacles along their path, and let the AGV safely pick up and drop off goods without damage. Visual and audible warning signs alert operators and emergency buttons allow them to intervene if needed.
